Well bubby suck it up and deal with it. This is the Yukon Territory,we're expected to be tough and creative .

Maybe the worse hardship is on the business owners ,but considering that businesses of the past survived with no electricity it is amazing that those today cannot cope .We have a plastic pay for society,it's a joke to carry cash . I don't have a business ,but if I did I would haul out artificial light lanterns run by batteries and string them around inside the store .Then I would have a manual cash register and a few employees who could actually count change out. I used to wonder that very question, then I found out they were homeless. Some by their choosing and some parents just kicked them out for not measuring up to their hypocritical standards.

Some refused to stay in school so they get shoved onto the street with no skills and the parents thinks this will make him realize his/her mistakes and maybe help them grow up. This is absolute bs .

Some maybe have slipped into a bad group, got hooked on drugs and the parents can't cope with it so again another kid goes on the street.

There are so many reasons as how these kids get on the streets to survive as best they can but I really want to know just when did kids become disposables?

How can these parents sleep knowing their kid is out there and now it's winter. I know that some lucky ones sofa surf.

Others are not so lucky ,I have heard stories of kids even sleeping in dumpsters. It protects them from the wind but not the cold but still any dumpster has a lid and it's home for them for the night . If they are lucky they can multi-layer their clothing(what little they have)or get a hold of a blanket. This gives little warmth but for how long?.

Youth shelters take in 17 years and up but what about those younger? Do these places care ? Do you?

It makes me sick at heart to know Whitehorse has children out in the cold trying to survive .

They are children of all ages and race .The YTG should do something about this. There should be no politics ,just humanitarian funds to help these kids.

I guess we have alot of Yuppie parents that thinks everything (even their kids) are disposibles.

We have a very very bad parental problem when kids are on the street

Nothing will ever justify this

Yukon Yortyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17879912488062542801noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892229824380145354.post-10747882323925774052008-04-20T15:43:00.000-07:002008-04-20T20:49:31.818-07:00Dust Bowl Spring in the YukonSpring in the Yukon is a mini dust bowl . In the winter instead of using salts on the road ,we have dirt scattered for good traction . It does make good dust devils(mini whirlwinds) when the spring winds kick up. Good equipment for spring attire is sunglasses or goggles, a head covering to keep the dirt out of your scalp and a package of handiwipes .

The dirt flies so freely not even a good street cleaner can trap all the street dirt but it only last less than a month. I pray for a good rain in the spring to wash away the dust off everything.

Yukon Yortyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17879912488062542801noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892229824380145354.post-20532404684238407792008-03-13T09:37:00.000-07:002008-03-13T09:57:12.084-07:00St. Peregrine: Patron Saint Of Cancer Patients
St. Peregrine Laziosi
1260-1345
Feast Day: May 1

Peregrine Laziosi was born of a wealthy family at Forli, Italy, in 1260. As a youth he was active in politics as a member of the anti-papal party. During one uprising, which the Pope sent St. Philip Benizi to mediate, Philip was struck in the face by Peregrine. When Philip offered the other cheek, Peregrine was so overcome that he repented and converted to Catholicism. Following the instructions of the Virgin Mary received in a vision, Peregrine went to Siena and joined the Servites.

It is believed that he never allowed himself to sit down for thirty years, while as far as possible, observing silence and solitude. Sometime later, Peregrine was sent to Forli to found a new house of the Servite Order. An ideal priest, he had a reputation for fervent preaching and being a good confessor. When he was afflicted with cancer of the foot and amputation had been decided upon, he spent the night before the operation, in prayer. The following morning he was completely cured. This miracle caused his reputation to become widespread.

He died in 1345 at the age of eighty-five, and he was canonized by Pope Benedict XIII in 1726. St. Peregrine, like St. Paul, was in open defiance of the Church as a youth. Once given the grace of conversion he became one of the great saints of his time. His great fervor and qualities as a confessor brought many back to the true Faith.

Afflicted with cancer, Peregrine turned to God and was richly rewarded for his Faith, enabling him over many years to lead others to the truth. He is the patron of cancer patients.

Prayer to Saint Peregrine

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder-Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. After I was diagnosed with cancer I made a player name to use that said "IhaveCancer2". I created it to see how people responded to it.

This will be a ongoing blog to show the positive and negative of people and their verbal reactions to my player name. So far I have used it once but got these responses from fellow card players.

1. You be ashamed of yourself having that name
2. You shouldn't advertised your illness
3. You should keep that information private
4. My aunt has cancer but we keep that to ourselves(well duh ,didn't they just share it with a whole table of people?)

Adding this part because of a reaction in Whitehorse.

It seems if you are a female and bald one from chemo ,going shopping isn't all the fun . I wore a
scarf that I made into a triangle to wear over my bald head .
I was walking towards the entrance of a local store and it was windy that day , well the scarf flew off and a young boy with his father started laughing at me, the dad chuckled. The Idiot!
I retrieved the scarf and just went back to my car . Not sure if I wanted to cry or stay mad .I didn't cry but I was mad at the stupidity of people .What do we have to do ..wear a sign on our back that says*I am bald from chemotherapy*. I wore tighter hats after that

Yukon Yortyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17879912488062542801noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892229824380145354.post-47044289734742412342008-02-21T13:57:00.000-08:002008-02-21T14:02:43.756-08:00Breast Cancer,so what

Note: The following was a post from my journal

I am one week past my breast removal, been doing my housework ,a little slower but getting things done. At home knitting
2. At home Baking
3.Spending time with grandkids

I have heard other lame spews from those evil mouths and not one even gave a thought of one thing ,age is only a number and alot of us care less what that number is.

Yukon Yortyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17879912488062542801noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892229824380145354.post-28156188790575166132008-01-08T09:11:00.002-08:002008-11-15T21:02:33.583-08:00I Am Senior ,Hear Me GroanI hit the big time . I am a senior citizen,I qualify for one senior discount in town. I haven't hit the real big time like getting all discounts so I must be a tweeny senior . You know the new fad! If you are pre- teen they call you a tweeny. I get a 10% at Fields here in town but I haven't made it around to all the stores yet so there might be more savings out there .

Probably after I start deducting gas cost and tire wear I might get a whole 1% savings. But thank you lord we have a small city and stores are close together.

I also meet the criteria for being a door greeter at Walmarts .I love to shop there as it seems everyone in town is there .But I am a bit confused on the greeter job. You get to greet people ,offer them shopping carts and answer questions if needed . What if a person is running out of that store with a stolen item? . Does a 56 year old woman chase after a 20 year old or do we just stick a foot out and hope we trip the thief? . Never understood why they chose older adults for that job. But as it was 30+ years ago for me I still ask questions and wait for the answers .

Yukon Yortyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17879912488062542801noreply@blogger.com0
